Our keynote speakers will tell their personal stories of leading churches through change, and reflect critically on this process - systemic issues, leadership innovation, interpersonal dynamics, biblical perspectives, and facilitating and fostering change.
Peter Francis: With a background in education Peter Francis has been in pastoral ministry for 21 years. In this time he has pastored in two large suburban churches and has also served for two years as a Regional Consultant with Queensland Baptists. Peter and his wife Wendy have served on a variety of mission boards and been engaged in short term teaching missions within both Southeast Asia and South America and have spoken at numerous churches, camps and conventions. Six years ago Peter accepted a call as the Senior Pastor of the City Tabernacle Baptist Church, located in the heart of Brisbane.
During this time, he has sought to guide this very old church into a new era of outreach and ministry that is impacting upon both the inner city of Brisbane and the wider community.
Amongst a range of effective ministry initiatives introduced has been the Lord Mayor's Carols in the City which last year provided the opportunity of reaching over half a million Australians with the Gospel. Peter acknowledges that the challenges of leading an older traditional church into a new era of ministry and mission is great, but as he frequently reminds his people, "we are here because of the Gospel and we are here for the Gospel".
Brian Winslade: Brian serves as National Director of the Baptist Union of Australia. He has been in pastoral ministry since 1979, including roles as Youth Pastor, Regional Youth Director, Missionary service in Bangladesh and Senior Pastor of three multiple staff churches. From 2001 to 2006 he served as National Leader (CEO) of the Baptist Union of New Zealand. Brian is a graduate of the NZ Baptist Theological College and Bethel University, MN, U.S.A. from which he holds a Doctor of Ministry degree. He is married to Liz (1979); they have three adult children. Brian¡¯s dominant spiritual gifts are in leadership and teaching. He describes himself as an ecclesial missiologist with a passion for local churches and facilitating their reformation to effectiveness in reaching 21st century people with the gospel. He travels extensively training church leaders and consulting on mission, church health and growth. He has been a frequent speaker at Church Leadership Conferences in Australia, New Zealand, India, U.K, Canada and South Africa.
Karl Faase: Karl has been the Senior Pastor at Gymea Baptist Church in Sydney¡¯s southern suburbs for more than fourteen years. Gymea Baptist is a multi-faceted church with a heart for reaching its community. Karl has wider leadership experience including the role of Executive Director for the Australian Arrow Leadership Development Program and he was the cofounder of the Media Project, ¡®Jesus – all about life¡¯. Karl is the director of the media organisation ¡®Olive Tree Media¡¯ which has several media products used around Australia and internationally in both radio and television. Olive Tree Media has produced radio spots, TV series such as ¡®Face to Face¡¯ and the new program, ¡®The Men¡¯s Series¡¯, as well as specials for free to air television and DVDs such as ¡®Remembering 59¡¯. Karl also sits on several boards including Samaritan¡¯s Purse (Australia), BGEA (Australia), Christian Television Australia, Sydney Prayer Breakfast and Southern Community Welfare. Karl speaks regularly around the country at various events and conferences. Karl is married to Jane and has three adult children ¡¦ Timothy, Ainsley & Ellie.
This conference will present a great opportunity for leadership insights from our keynote speakers, into the dynamics of leading churches through change and transformation.
This is a fantastic opportunity for church and ministry leaders to grow in their leadership and personal ministry effectiveness!
